This week Andrew is away, so Gavin,  Tim, Marty, and Benny get together and drive the crazy train. This week in non-fake news the panel covers Jordan Peterson, and  Trudeau's sunglasses. Liberal riding chair Mark Elyas picks a fight with gun owners. Water balloon fight ends with fine, Trudeau's Indian vacation cost $1.5M. The RCMP jump the gun on new gun laws in Bill C71. Senate passes the pot bill, hearing claims are up for the military, and Doug Ford kills the Green Ontario Fund.

Hey guys, just listened to your June 5th podcast named “decay”, well done First of all, great podcast!

But I have a question, during some of the debate about parties a member said something along the lines of “that other useless party none of the above”

I’m curious to know why they think that?

And how they came to that conclusion?

Thank you for your time!

-Tom

Jun 5, 2018

This week Tim, Gavin, and Andrew get together to talk about the decay of our society. Police officers shooting themselves, more figures being released about the 150 skating rink, and a corrupt cop catching a 12 year prison sentence. There is more Ontario election news, including more NPD shenanigans. The federal government buying the trans-mountain pipeline from Kinder Morgan. Plus tons of gun crime being committed in Toronto by criminals, not licensed gun owners, what a shock. For fun Andrew’s internet connection got wonky a couple times too.

Subject: Government spending
I stumbled across your pod cast and am now a faithful listener. Thank you for tring to get the information out to the people.
I listen to your confusion when it comes to government spending. I would refer you and your panel to Saul David Alinsky and his 8 controls for a socialist state, taking note of control number 3. His relationship with Hillary Clinton is also quite interesting.
For more shits and giggles Google.      " the tytler cycle" .
So long fellas. Keep up the good work.

This week Marty, Gavin, Tim, and Andrew sit in judgment of the Ontario government. The panel talks about Toronto demanding more funding for refugees using city shelters, propaganda for Wynn, OLG losing money on the sale of casinos that profit, the NPD platform barring the sale of alcohol at convenience stores. They guys try to figure out the victim hierarchy for a transgender woman that launched a human rights complaint against a waxing service provided by a muslim women, and owned by a man.

Email from Thom

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work drinking and BS'ing everyweek. You guys have given me much need sollice in knowing that I'm not the only angry Canadian in our glorious country and that there are others vocalizing and fighting the steady pace of the communism that spews from Shiny Ponies side of the isle. Keep up all you do, and if you're ever in Alberta (especially for an event) drop me a line, would love to hang out or go shooting.

As for my quick question. Recently the Mounties have graced me with an extra serving of freedom in issuing my rPAL - before I get all gungho in buying anything I want to join either an NFA or CCFR. I'm wondering what the panels opinion is on which one (or both) that would be best to get.  I'm leaning towards CCFR after hearing old shows that had Tracy on, but some of my friends are saying to go the NFA route. Thoughts?

Much love and respect - Thom

This week Tim, Marty, Gavin, and Andrew cover breaking news in Toronto and speculate wildly that it is entirely possible that you don’t accidently run 25 people down with a rental Truck Of Peace. But the panel definitely isn’t calling it terrorism because no media outlet or government agency is calling it terrorism. Everything is probably fine, nothing to see, move along. The panel also touches on employer discrimination against white men, the Ontario election, and minimum wage. Remember to return your rental on time or there will be a late fee.

Subject: Gun Shop Record Keeping

Hi guys,

just wanted to clarify something. I heard you guys say that businesses are currently still required to record purchasers' info. Are you sure about that? I thought Steven Blaney told the CFOs that they may not make recording of people's PALs a condition of the business license. This was the backdoor registry backlash post C-19. I sure as shit hope the shops I have been purchasing non-restricteds from, since the LGR was abolished, have not been recording my info. Can you confirm?

Keep spreading the message!

Thanks

Dave

This week Marty, Gavin, Tim, and Andrew sit down to talk about the Ontario vote buying, err we mean budget that was announced just months before a provincial election. We expect that ugly Orville Redenbacher will be cutting us a cheque for $2 billon soon, since everyone else is getting $2 billion for their special interests. We also revisit the Lindsey Sheppard of Wilfrid Laurier University story.

Hey guys.

I tried to get a ‘Happy 150th’ t-shirt from Tim’s site the other day, and the page has gone unserviceable.  Is there a new link to get the shirts?

Also, thanks for the expanded rundown on C-71; it prompted me to get off my diff and make an extra donation to the CCFR.  Andrew is right in the fact that they have been the most proactive and vocal of all the organizations out there. They need our support.  Email Letters to J-Tard and my MP sent as well, but my gut tells me they feed straight from the printer to the shredder. At least paper ones will have to be opened manually.  The liberal stance will no doubt be that they only got a handful in response to the bill. Majority rule in Canada seems awfully comparable to a four year elected dictatorship!

I also threw some money at the legal fund that is fighting the latest CBSA folding knife ruling.  Another cause worth supporting to fight our steadily eroding freedoms!

Thanks again for another solid podcast.  Keep up the great work!

In episode 95(30minutes in the youtube video/24 minutes on itunes). As a weapons technician i would like to disagree with your statement about the glock being double action.

Double action is common with semi automatic firearms but the glock is a single action.

Single action, the pull of the trigger performs one action that is releasing the striker from the sear.* The trigger bar disengaging an internal safety is not accounted for in this term*

Double action, the pull of the trigger pulls the hammer back ( action 1) and releases the hammer to strike the primer( action2) .

Im just catching up on your show i just started listening your podcasts on iTunes on long drives. Love the show but I cringe hard the technical info is wrong but so far this is the only thing that stood out to me.

I cant find the itunes review button but 5 stars ! Wish for more gun related news etc. I do love hearing your thoughts on firearms.

Maybe try some white russians?

Sincerely

Alex

Commentary

Concerns Regarding the New 12(9) Class of Licence, Micheal Loberg

The CZ and SAN rifles were previously non-restricted until the RCMP unilaterally declared them to be prohibited. The Conservative government responded to citizen outrage and (among other things) amended the "Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons, Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited, Restricted or Non-Restricted" to force these firearms back to being non-restricted by regulation (the “Non-restricted Amendment”).

Bill C-71 will remove the Non-restricted Amendment, putting the CZ and SAN rifles back into the prohibited category.

Bill C-71 also creates “grandfathering” provisions for these specific rifles. In particular:

  1. The CZ rifles listed in the new section 12(11) of the Firearms Act will be grandfathered by a new class of prohibited licence under section 12(10) of the Firearms Act (the “12(10) Licence”).
  2. The SAN rifles listed in the new section 12(14) of the Firearms Act will be grandfathered by a new class of prohibited licence under section 12(13) of the Firearms Act (the “12(13) Licence”).
  3. Both the 12(10) Licence and the 12(13) Licence categories of firearms are not expressly prohibited from being granted ATTs for shooting purposes, however whether or not the CFOs will issue ATTs for these firearms as a matter of their discretion remains to be seen.

As a separate matter, and it is a separate matter from the CZ and SAN rifles treatment, a new “mystery” class of prohibited licence is created under section 12(9) of the Firearms Act (the “12(9) Licence”). This class of licence authorizes an individual to possess prohibited firearms of a “prescribed class” under certain conditions, but nowhere is it yet disclosed as to what is going to be written into that “prescribed class” by way of future regulation.

Because the newly-created 12(9) Licence class is unrelated to the other amendments to the Firearms Act or the firearms specifically dealt with by these amendments, the fact that it exists is clear evidence of an intention that the RCMP and the government have the ability to grandfather further classes of newly-prohibited firearms.

As to the ATTs for the affected guns, under the proposed amendments:

  1. Restricted-class ATTs for target shooting are still automatic under section 19(2.1);
  2. Prohibited-class 12(6.1) firearms (short and small pistols) for target shooting are automatic under section 19(2.3);
  3. Other prohibited-class firearms are the subject of discretionary ATTs under section 19(1), modified by subsections 1.1 and 2 as follows:
  4. Subsections 1.1 requires that (subject to an exception) if a discretionary ATT is granted for target shooting purposes for any prohibited firearms, it must include all ranges in the province, a “whole province” requirement. The exception is for 12(9), 12(10) and 12(13) licences, which are excluded from this whole province requirement;
  5. Subsection 2 eliminates target shooting as an option for an ATT for prohibited firearms except for:
  6. Prohibited class 12(6.1) firearms (short and small pistols); and
  7. 12(9), 12(10) and 12(13) licences.

Accordingly, CZ and SAN rifles can notionally still be the subject of discretionary ATTs. Whether or not ATT’s will actually be granted remains to be seen.

Prohibited class 12(6.1) firearms will continue to be legal for, and ATTs issued regarding, target shooting.

This leaves the newly-created 12(9) Licence class, which being in respect of an unknown and potentially undecided list of prohibited-class firearms, may have a discretionary ATT issued for target shooting, but without the automatic “whole province” requirement.

Unfortunately, the Liberal government and the RCMP have not disclosed to us what it is that they intend to newly make into a prohibited-class of firearm, so as to populate this newly created 12(9) Licence class.

(((MEDIA))) commentary

Liberals' claim of 'steady increase' in gun crime rests on a 'drastic' comparison to a low-crime year

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/gun-crime-goodale-canada-1.4585097

"Gun homicides are up by two-thirds" since 2013, Goodale warned — citing what sounds like a shocking explosion of violence.

That's because 2013 saw Canada's lowest rate of criminal homicides in 50 years, and the lowest rate of fatal shootings ever recorded by Statistics Canada.

In 2013, Canadians killed each other at the lowest rate since 1966 — 30 per cent below the average of the previous three decades. Statistics Canada's homicide report for 2013 clearly identifies it as a record-breaking year.

Federal gun control reforms don't go far enough, Quebec school shooting survivors say

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-gun-control-ottawa-1.4585087

Heidi Rathjen, a gun control activist and survivor of the 1989 Polytechnique massacre, said she felt "utter disappointment" after reviewing the proposed law, which she said offered "lots of concessions to the gun lobby."

"Our impression when we look at the details is that it was specifically designed to look like they're doing something, but to minimize the ire of the gun lobby as much as possible," Rathjen, a spokesperson for the gun control group Poly Remembers, told CBC Montreal's Homerun.

"Once you leave the store, you could sell them to anybody now and not leave a trace, which makes it really easy to feed into the black market," she said.

"We want sales to be recorded. We want police to have access to them, and we want private sales to be included."

NP View: How do you mess up good Canadian gun laws? Ask the Liberals

http://nationalpost.com/opinion/np-view-how-do-you-mess-up-good-canadian-gun-laws-ask-the-liberals

The average annual number of homicides with rifle or shotgun for the full 10 years before the long-gun registry was scrapped was 37.3. The average annual number of homicides with rifle or shotgun for the first four years since it was scrapped, all of the figures so far available, is 37.75.

This week Andrew, Andrew, Marty, Gavin, and Tim speculate wildly about the upcoming federal bill to change controls around firearms in Canada. In the news the panel covers the HexMag prohibition, rural Canadians wanting to use guns to protect themselves, and Andrew Scheer’s firearms policies. HexMag update

https://www.facebook.com/BartonsBigCountry/posts/1752694304752376

VALUED CUSTOMERS- HEX MAG UPDATE:

After nearly two months of working with the RCMP lab on design concerns with the 10/30 Hex Mag, we finally reached a conclusion. The 10 round models with internal limitation and shortened spring have been classified as prohibited devices in their current configuration.

The RCMP have clarified that:

"A rivet applied to the Hexmag magazine casing which prevents more than five cartridges to be contained in the magazine would meet the requirements of the magazine regulations ..."

We fully recognize that a 5 round limitation was not what our customers were paying for so we have created a separate RETURN POLICY specifically for these magazines for anyone not enthused about riveting their kit.

Requests for returns will be accepted until April 13th. Because we are dealing with prohibited devices, we need to have a closing date whereby we have given ample time to correct the problem.

Any requests for returns can be directed to CustomerService@BartonsBigCountry.ca

Our Customer Service Reps will begin compiling return requests immediately and begin replying with return packages on Monday, March 19th for anyone wishing to take advantage of that program.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and we'll continue working diligently to rectify the situation.

Supporters of rural homeowner accused of shooting trespasser want laws changed

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/calgary/okotoks-shooting-homeowner-charged-court-rally-1.4568338

“"We're actually looking for some sort of changes within the system that allow rural homeowners and landowners to become their own trained first response." George Clark rally organiser.

The ranchers aren't wrong; between 2013 and 2017 rural property crimes are up 41 per cent, according to RCMP, though spokesperson Cpl. Curtis Peters says some of that increase can be attributed to an increase in reporting.

GUNTER: Rural communities under the gun

http://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/gunter-rural-communities-under-the-gun

I don’t mean that if the Libs can just do something about getting guns under control, they will reduce the rural crime rate, which has risen by more than 20% in many rural parts of the country over the past five years.

Nope. From that aspect, past Liberal gun control measures have actually made rural crime worse.

Past gun controls — such as the firearms registry — have given criminals the impression there are fewer law-abiding citizens with guns out. And that has caused crime to rise because the bad guys have more confidence they will not meet armed civilians while out burglarizing innocent Canadians.

Whatever new controls the Trudeau government brings in, perhaps as early as this spring, are most likely only going to make rural crime worse.

Alleged criminals are often treated by police, prosecutors, judges and politicians with more respect and compassion than self-defending landowners. (And don’t think criminals haven’t sensed that, too, and increased their criminal activities as a result.)

Andrew Scheer’s gun policies include firearms ombudsman, taking power from RCMP

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-andrew-scheers-gun-policies-include-firearms-ombudsman-taking-power/?click=sf_globefb

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says he wants to create a firearms ombudsman to advocate for gun owners and that the RCMP should no longer have the power to reclassify guns – a proposal being dismissed as “nonsense” by the country’s former top cop.

Mr. Scheer’s proposals include a sweeping pledge to review the Criminal Code and repeal all federal regulations on gun ownership, usage and transportation, which do not “ensure that Canada’s firearms laws respect the rights of honest firearms owners, recognize the fact that hunting and sports shooting are an important part of Canadian culture and history, and empower police to concentrate on real criminals who are a threat to the public.”

But former RCMP commissioner Bob Paulson said one of Mr. Scheer’s promises, which takes aim at the Mounties for reclassifying guns based on aesthetics, is “nonsense, nonsense and a little bit more nonsense.”

“There is a rabid firearms lobby that has their hooks into the Conservatives, and they’re aggressive, and the only way that, in my view, the political folks can keep them at bay, is to blame the RCMP,” Mr. Paulson, who retired last June after 32 years in the force, told The Globe.

“In truth, the elected officials have all the power in the world right now. It’s not a discretionary call that the RCMP make, it is the application of the laws that those elected officials make.”

Gun-control advocates who were invited to the summit have since criticized its focus on gangs, particularly in the Prairie provinces and the lower mainland of B.C., and gang use of guns with no discussion of reinstating and increasing controls over legal firearms.

“I think it’s very telling that the gun lobby was very happy with the focus on illegal guns,” Heidi Rathjen, a spokesperson for Polysouvient (PolyRemembers) group of Montreal, told iPolitics.

“They certainly don’t want discussions about gun control measures which inevitably affect legal owners, with controls on legal guns,” Rathjen said.

Good Morning,

As a Father of four, tax payer, and firearms owner I appreciate the work you guys do and the show you put on each week.  Holding government accountable is a fundamental democratic responsibility, especially when that same government chooses not to do so itself.

I do believe that legal firearms owners are the current whipping boy (sorry didn't mean to assume gender, whipping person) for the failing liberal government.

I found it refreshing in your host's comments regarding the breakdown of family as one of the chief contributors to society's current status.  Not many people would acknowledge that. To find the opinion on the fringes of the interwebs is encouraging.

Your host (Main host?) Andrew mentioned an author who is associated with the libertarian movement.  The host mentioned the author and the idea of non-aggression, I was hoping to get the name of that person as well as the title of the book.  I know it was mentioned in the last episode, but the name escapes me.

Thank you for your time.

Keep up the good work!

BTW Andrew sounds a lot like the retired newscaster Robert Fisher.

One of the best canadian shows out there ***** by Objectively Better Andrew

I never miss an episode and love the show. Would be great if they can just come out and say they don’t have Rod Giltaca booked for an interview. I would also agree with “Even better” ANdrew (though not superior), the guys need to diversify their liquor showcase. Because as we all have been taught by the government re-education camps, diversity is everything.

Howdy, I've just caught on to the podcast 2 weeks ago. Started at the oldest i could get on itunes(ep 20) and at 53 now. loving it.  I heard mention on one of those episodes about a manual reload setup and i was curious if you have an equipment list available for an affordable 556/9mm reloading setup

Also, I appreciate the message you guys are spreading and I have mentioned this podcast to every person I come across at work (on both sides of the spectrum) and two are now going for their unrestricted 2 weeks from now

I also may be bringing a co-worker with me to the range who 2 weeks ago told me that only police and military should be armed in any manner and that guns should not exist civilian side

  • Lee Anniversry Kit $200
  • Hornady Lock n Load Classic Kit $500
  • We’re probably going to do a series on reloading
  • Get and RPAL too!

This week Marty and Andrew are talking all about National Lampoon's Indian Vacation … er rather the official State Visit to India by the Trudeau Family.  The guys talk about the most Canadian man in Korea, the CRA cracking down on restaurant servers, the continuing ordeal of the CF18s, and guns in Canada. Andrew challenged a listener in the youtube chat to a debate on gun laws, that invitation is still open.

Whenever I start to feel content or ignorant to the way the government is run I turn on your podcast.  I quickly realize how messed up everything is and start looking at property sales in Texas.  It’s not all doom and gloom tho because I find myself laughing so hard sometimes that I almost have to pull over my truck.  Oh I should probably mention that I listen while on my long ass commute in the oil sands.   The only suggestion I can give to your wicked podcast is the length, I wanna hear more which may be selfish because my commute is almost 2 hours one way and one hour isn’t sufficient.

If you ever need an example of stupid government spending take a look at the multi million dollar crying scaffold (I think it’s a non functional weather art thing) Fort Mcmurray tax dollars bought.  Btw...Frack taxes!

Please keep being skeptical of all government and shining a light on things the media tend to hide.  Glocks reign supreme.  Keep er tight and stay out of the weeds buds.

From Timothy

Hey all, just finished catching up on your podcast finally & want to thank you for providing me something fun & informative to listen to during the day as I am driving between jobs.  (I am an appliance service technician in Vancouver and have at least 3 hours of driving every day so podcasts help pass the time).
I have a few questions & comments for you guys:
First of all, thank you for no longer "censoring" swear words as the sound effect was quite loud and I feel anyone listening to this podcast regularly probably isn't too worried about a few cuss words burning their ears.  Secondly. I dont know a whole lot about audio editing but is there a way to somehow make everyone's voices closer to the same volume? (I listen to your episodes on the app "podcast  addict" if that helps) The most recent episode had quite a difference in volume between the regular panelists and Brock.
On a completely different topic I was wondering if you guys could suggest a company to take a pistol or carbine operator course out west here.  I know how to physically operate all of my firearms and have put many thousands or rounds through them but am still a fairly shitty shot.  Also the range I go to is mostly a bunch of old fuds that shoot their hunting rifle once a year or think the sks is still a viable combat rife.
Anyways thanks again for doing the podcast & congrats to Andrew on the new kid!
PS: Is there some running joke about Rod not coming onto the podcast?  It feels like you have been saying sorry to him for the last 30 episodes.

Justin Trudeau says ‘peoplekind’ remark was a ‘dumb joke’

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/justin-trudeau-says-peoplekind-remark-was-a-dumb-joke/article37889426/?cmpid=rss&click=sf_globefb

"I made a dumb joke a few days ago that seems to have gone a little viral in the room on the 'peoplekind' comment," Trudeau said without being prompted by reporters.

"It played well in the room and in context. Out of context, it doesn't play so well," he added.

"It's a little reminder to me that I shouldn't be making jokes even when I think they're funny."

https://thebridgehead.ca/2018/02/09/trudeaus-top-advisor-says-those-who-laughed-at-peoplekind-comment-are-nazis/

Agreeing with Piers Morgan for all the wrong reasons;

“a) I’m not a Nazi. b) It wasn’t a joke. c) If you’re one of @JustinTrudeau’s chief advisors, no wonder he’s making so many gaffes.” He then followed that up by pointing out that, “The whole world laughed at your boss & his absurdly politically correct, virtue-signalling #peoplekind nonsense. If you choose to condemn everyone who did so as being a Nazi, then I politely suggest you’re a complete & utter halfwit.” He ended by referring to Butts as “’one sandwich short of a full picnic.’ Incredible that someone so close to your Prime Minister is able to spout such dangerously inflammatory nonsense on his behalf.”

This week New Andrew and Don join Marty, Tim, Gavin, and Andrew on the panel. Andrew and Gavin are both remote recording, for different reasons. The panel talks about Elon Musk’s new flamethrowers and their legality in Canada. Canada Revenue Agency has found a way to try and tax Bitcoin, good luck with that. The panel compares Liberal MP Kent Hehr to Ontario PC leader Patrick Brown, both have had allegations of sexual misconduct, but only one is still in politics.

This week Benny from New Shooter Canada joins the panel to talk with Gavin about their SHOT show adventure. Marty, Sean and Andrew are still on the panel but didn’t got to SHOT. The Panel talks about the end of expansion on Canada Post’s community mailbox program, and the RCMP being fined following the deaths of Moncton officers in 2014. The big topic this week is #MeToo sweeping Ontario and Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown leaving politics after allegations of sexual misconduct.

Email from Colin;

In the last episode you guys mentioned every double stack mag would be banned following the logic of the Irunguns notice, I disagree. The Mecgar mags(at least for Sig P226 handguns), LAR mags, CZ Shadow mags, and so many others have a body that will not fit more then ten. The body of the mag is designed not to hold more then ten, because it is too short and the extended mag bases come up to meet the body of the mag.
